I have following error message when the PC is turned on:

BIOS ROM Checksum error
Detecting floppy drive A media...
INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

What should I do?

The BIOS in the PC is corrupted. It can be caused by the virus or power surge.

Please follows the procedures as below,

#1 With Octek Main board, the model No. is printed on the PCB, or labelled on the I/O slot. Check the model / revision of your board.

#2 Download the BIOS BIN file of this board from BIOS DOWNLOAD page. Please note, the incorrect BIN file may cause the main board fatal damager. So, please double check the model / revision of your board!! Uncompress (unZIP) it if necessary.

#3 Download the BIOS Flash program. Uncompress (unZIP) it if necessary. Change the file name to AWDFLASH.EXE if necessary.

#3 Create a bootable disk without CONFIG.SYS.  Copy BIN file and Flash program on the FD. Create AUTOEXEC.BAT with following statement:

  AWDFLASH xxxx.BIN /Sn / Py

xxxx.BIN is the BIN File name you downloaded.

#4 Check the FD, there should be following files on the disk:

  • AUTOEXEC.BAT
  • AWDFLASH.EXE
  • xxxx.BIN
  • COMMAND.COM

#5 Boot this FD from the problem PC, the BIOS will be automatically re-load again. The problem should be solved.

#6 If the problem is still existing, you might need to return the main board to the workshop to replace the BIOS chip or replace the board.
